Interview with Cate

Welcome and thank you for allowing me to asking you a few questions:

Tell us a little about yourself?

My name is Cate Taylor. Cate is short for Catherine. I’m married to Mike, we celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary this year. I’m a few years shy of ’40’ and I work for a small law firm in central London. I’m pretty boring really.

What is your Star Sign?

I’m a Virgo – (starts singing ‘Like a Virgin’). You when I think about it, I’m surprised my mother didn’t call me Mary.

What is your favourite food?

Umm… that’s tough as I love lots of different foods. Italian would be my favourite. Oh, I also love a freshly baked chocolate croissant from Papa Jean’s café — hard to beat with a steamy hot Latte on a cold wintry day!

Have you always been interested in Knitting?

My Nanny Eileen taught me when I was really young. I loved having her all to myself. I used to love a stay over and she would put me to bed with a hot cinnamon milk and slice of apple tart. Erm, I wasn’t very good with knitting, I usually dropped stitches and ended up with lots of holes. I’m better now, as Alice often helps me out.

What project are you working on right now?

Luna got me started knitting squares, and then I hope to knit a lovely summer shawl.

Why ‘naked’ knitting?

Mike, my husband, made a joke about my New Year’s resolution, and it kinda planted a seed. I called Luna and met to make an excuse to get out of it, but somehow, she persuaded me to come along, and I love it now. Getting naked was really hard for me the first few times, but I don’t think about it now.

What do you do in your spare time, apart from Knitting?

I like reading, but it has been a while since I picked up a book. I enjoy cooking, and occasionally baking – but I end up eating what I bake, so that’s not good. You can’t beat a night in with a my mates — ‘pizza and prosecco’ – we love to watch a good movie together.

What are your plans for Christmas?

Christmas is normally spent with my parents, but mostly it ends up just being the two of us, and then New Year’s Eve with friends.

If the book was to be made into a movie, who would you cast to play you?

Are you kidding me? (Shocked look) I’m not sure — they would have to find an Northern Irish speaking redhead with pale skin and blue eyes and big boobs…  I’ve really no clue — is there such an actress?

Interview with Carlos

Welcome and thank you for allowing me to asking you a few questions:

Tell us a little about yourself?

Hi sweetie, thanks for this interview, so cool – makes me feel like I’m a celeb! My name is Carlos, Carlos Santos, and I’m Brazilian, but now live here in the wonderful UK. From the moment I arrived in London, I knew it was the place for me. I am a hair stylist, I work with lots of A-listers, VIPs and Stars. I have a great life here. Nothing beats the feel of a tight new pair of designer trousers and perfectly tailored jacket as I glide along the red-carpet, rubbing shoulders with the hot young Stars and waving at the paparazzi — I just love it!

What Star Sign are you?

I’m a Taurus – the Bull, but I have to say don’t think that’s me at all, although the ladies might disagree (laughing).

What is your favourite food?

I’m easy to please, but I do have to watch what I eat and workout to keep  this super-hot beach body (laughter) – no love-handles here!

Have you always been interested in Knitting?

I learnt to knit as a boy when I spent time with my grandmother, she also taught me to cook. I met Luna at a retreat and she invited me to join the group. That’s when I got into it again – well sort of, I think I talk more than knitting.

What project are you working on right now?

I have a sweater I started a few years ago – and I’m still working on it. It is slow progress, but the ladies help me out.

Why ‘naked’ knitting?

When Luna invited me to join the group I didn’t think about it being ‘naked’, and I’ve never had an issue getting undressed with the others, and they don’t have any problem with me – after all they are not my type – know what I mean? (wink wink)

What do you do in your spare time, apart from knitting?

Party baby! Actually, I don’t go out too much these days. I suppose I enjoy cooking for friends, or watching a good movie, with a glass of prosecco.

What are your plans for Christmas?

Champagne, a good movie and someone special — perfect, along with a load of presents.

Do have a knitting project in mind for next year?

(Laughing) Continuing on the one I’ve been working on for the last few years!

If the book was to be made into a movie, who would you cast to play you?

Sweetie, there is no one who could play me – I would have to play myself! (thoughtful pause) Well, if I had to choose someone, I might consider Richard Madden or Jamie Dornan, as long as I get to be on set and get up close and personal with them, so they can get to know me better (laughter).

Interview with Alice

Welcome and thank you for allowing me to asking you a few questions:

Tell us a little about yourself?

Oh, I’m not very exciting really compared to the others. My name is Alice Price. I am married to Ned and we have four wonderful children. I’m a full-time stay-at-home Mum, which I love. It certainly is hard work with four little ones, but if I had my way I would have four moreWhat Star Sign are you?

My birthday is on 24 February, so I believe that makes me a Pisces – the fish. But I really don’t know what that means.

What is your favourite food?

Well, anything cooked for me by anyone else. Ned and I do try to have a ‘date night’  several times a month and I love going out to dine at a restaurant, but we normally have to go so early as I’m in bed by 10pm at the latest, as the little ones have me awake anytime from 5am.

Have you always been interested in Knitting?

Really, I learnt at school, when we knit endless squares and then we knit a doll’s outfit. I’ve always found it relaxing and started knitting again when our eldest was born.

What project are you working on right now?

I’m normally knitting something for the children, and right now it is a cute little baby beanie — it’s like a bunny rabbit. (Big smile)

Why ‘naked’ knitting?

Well, it was really Ned who suggested it. He thought it was a normal knitting club, and when I found out, I thought ‘stuff it’ — I like the people and I’m too tired to find another one, and Ned promised to look after the children. It’s so cozy in Luna’s I never notice I’m naked.

What do you do in your spare-time, apart from knitting?

(Politely laughs) I have four young children, all under the age of 10 — so I don’t have much spare time on my hands. I guess if I get the children to bed early, I enjoy watching a travel program on TV, particularly if it has lovely sandy beaches and sunshine – it has been a long time since I’ve had a holiday like that. In fact, it was probably our Honeymoon!

What are your plans for Christmas?

Christmas is all about the family. It’s Ned and my favourite time of year, so we go to town. My parents and Ned’s parents join us for an early dinner. By the time we get to make it to the Queen’s speech, Ned and I are normally asleep. The older children get so excitable and have us awake from very early in the morning!

Do have a knitting project in mind for next year?

Oh, well, I guess it will be more baby things or children’s sweaters, they grow out of them so quickly.

If the book was to be made into a movie, who would you cast to play you?

I would never have thought of it, but let me think — I guess it would be pretty exciting to have Emily Blunt play me, but I don’t she would have the stretchmarks!

Interview with Jo

Welcome and thank you for allowing me to asking you a few questions:

Tell us a little about yourself?

Hi y’all! What do you want to know? My name is Jo Lafayette. I was born and raised in a Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After my studies in Massachusetts, I decided to try out life here in London. I love the diversity and openness here. I now work in an alternative adult entertainment establishment, which suits me right now.

What Star Sign are you?

I’m an Aries – the ram. That’s me spot on!

What is your favourite food?

I love Cajun food, of course, and there is a restaurant, not too far from where I work, that makes the best Southern Fried Chicken this side of the Mississippi.

Have you always been interested in Knitting?

I only started to knit when I was at college — a girlfriend taught me. I spent a year knitting endless scarves!

What project are you working on right now?

I am working on a loose knit ‘sloppy’ sweater, but I always add my own creative twist (laughter).

Why ‘naked’ knitting?

Why not – being naked makes no difference to me — it’s totally natural and liberating from the constraints that society puts upon us — ‘Dare to Bare!’

What do you do in your spare time, apart from knitting?

I spend time with Charlie, my darling pet. I enjoy reading, yoga and meditation, normally in the mornings. Lately, I’ve found time to play my acoustic guitar again. I don’t have a TV and I’m not into wasting time on social media –I enjoy making the most of my precious time.

What are your plans for Christmas?

I will be working. I have no family here, so I may as well be earning, but I also see it as doing my bit for charity over the holidays — I offer companionship to a few lonely souls and make them happy!

Do have a knitting project in mind for next year?

I have a pattern for a cute little halter top, and I know already how I will ‘Jo-ify’ it.

If the book was to be made into a movie, who would you cast to play you?

That would be awesome – I think it should be Beyoncé (laughing) — but I believe the others in the group keep saying that I’m like Grace Jones, do you think she’d be too old now to play me? (laughter)

Interview with Luna

Welcome and thank you for allowing me to asking you a few questions:

Tell us a little about yourself?
Well, my name is Luna Pearce — Luna like the moon; although my brith name is actually Elizabeth — Elizabeth Margaret. I live in the Notting Hill area of London, with my two troublesome cats, Trouble and Soot – my babies.  I work part-time in the local library – I love books, they are so magical. Oh yes, I love helping people too. I offer a few services to help people with their love lives and I use natural herbs to create healing remedies.

What Star Sign are you?
I’m a Capricorn — I think it sums me up, I hope — wise, patient and practical.

What is your favourite food?
Oh, I have such a sweet-tooth. My favourite treat is a slice of carrot cake at the Evergreen Café. But really, I am quite easy to please when it comes to cake!

Have you always been interested in Knitting?
For a long time — I learnt to knit as a child. My mother, god rest her soul, taught me.  We would sit together by the fire, back in the days when you had real coal fires, and she would tell me stories as we would knit squares to make blankets for charity. My father was away a lot on business and it was often just us.  Up until the accident… my parents were killed in a car accident. Anyway, I am just pleased I have those precious memories, and when I sit and knit, I feel she is with me.

What project are you working on right now?
I often have several projects on the go at once, but I love knitting socks.  There is something about creating a cozy pair of socks, and the endless colour combinations – and they make great presents too.

Why ‘naked’ knitting?
Well, it started back when I explored being a naturist, but if I’m honest I didn’t like walking around outside and with men – oh my, God had a sense of humour… So I started knitting at home on my own in the nude and it felt comfortable. Then I felt that I should open up my home to invite others to join me, and so the naked knitting club was formed. That was five years ago and we are going strong today.

What do you do in your spare time, apart from knitting?
I love to make my healing herbal remedies, and I enjoy reading a good book. At the moment, I am reading lots of murder mysteries — you can’t beat a good whodunnit.

What are your plans for Christmas?
Well, as I’m on my own — my typical Christmas is a time for reflection, and to share with those less fortunate. Christmas Eve I go to the local homeless shelter and we have a small Christmas carol service and provide a good hearty meal, a good hot shower and a clean bed.  It breaks my heart to see so many wonderful souls hurting and living on the streets. Nowadays there are so many young ones living rough, it makes me so sad. I really feel strongly that we all need to reach out and help each other. On Christmas day, I’m back at the shelter and we do a breakfast and then prepare for a full traditional Christmas dinner. It breaks my heart that we can only help a few. Many of the pairs of socks I knit are given out as presents.

Do have a knitting project in mind for next year?
Too many, when I visit my friend’s yarn and craft store, Mr Yamamoto, I always end up falling in love with some new range of wool and find myself starting yet another new wonderful project. I think the excitement of starting something new is hard to resist. I have an ever-growing stash – other knitters and crafters will understand.

If the book was to be made into a movie, who would you choose to cast to play you?
Oh, dearie that would be so adorable. I admire the actress Miriam Margolyes, she is quite a character and a very talented and clever lady – yes, I would love to meet her too and have a chat over a coffee and a slice of cake. I have a feeling we would hit it off. That would be such a hoot! I think she was excellent as Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter movies, but don’t tell anyone – I’m a bit of a Harry Potter fan!
